This morning at 7am the Inaugural Shriners 5k run/walk in support of the Shriners Children’s Hospitals, a great charity. The race itself was located just south of Ocean Blvd in Sewell’s Point at the little park by the bridge out to Hutchinson Island. It was my first experience running on Sewell’s Point, and it did not disappoint. Sewell’s Point is a narrow spit of land in between downtown Stuart and Sailfish Point on Hutchinson Island. I was curious how we would even run 3 miles there, but after the start we made a quick right and we ran up and down a slew of side streets for about 2 miles until we arrived at the southern tip of the peninsula and made the turn for home running north all the way up Sewell’s Point Road back to the tiny little park. I would definitely run this course again, the neighborhoods are beautiful, we actually ran up and down “hills”. All in all it was great to get out there and run a new course for a fabulous charity.
