Old Palm Golf Club—-brokers open house, just spectacular

Old Palm Golf Club had another fantastic event the other night, Marti Gras in the Golf Estates.  Its was put on by Courchene Development Corporation and Mustapick Estate Homes featuring six completed homes to preview.   The homes were all located in the Golf Estates section of Old Palm.  Three of the homes were Courchene Developement models and three were Mustapick Estate Homes models.  Both builders put out a superior product but I have never been more impressed by any builder than I was with Mustapick.  I actually had to go back for a second look at all six models. There was there not one thing out of place, the fit and finishes were amazing, the choice of materials outstanding, every single grout line that was perfect.  The little extras to me made all the difference.                                                      I really loved  the inlay stone work in the master baths and dining rooms.  These little extra touches highlighted the amazing craftsmanship, and attention to detail through out the homes.

These brokers open houses to me are the best education an agent can have, not only do you get a chance to preview homes, meet the builders, explore the property, but you also learn something new a the community each and every time. So I want to thank Courchene, Mustapick and Old Palm for allowing us in and putting on such a wonderful event.

Old Palm Golf Club is a very exclusive development in Palm Beach Gardens with a approximately 330 home sites surrounding a Raymond Floyd designed championship golf course.  With one truly unique feature, a 19th hole.  In this case a 100 yard par three island hole to settle tied matches or perhaps a bet or two.  Price points for homes range from the low one millions and up.  There are three neighborhoods in Old Palm Golf Club, the Golf Estates, Grand Estates, and Custom Estates.  The Golf Estate homes are 3000 to 5000 square foot homes from the low one millions to the mid 2 millions.  The Grand Estate homes are on 1/2 acre home sites, 4800 to 7000 sq ft, pricing from the mid 2M to over 3M.  The Custom Estates homes are on 1 acres sites, 7000 to 15,000 sq ft and priced from 4 to 12 million.

Y.E.S.! Dress for Success Holiday Luncheon

The Y.E.S.! Dress for Success Holiday Luncheon was not only a success it was a fabulous event.  Its nice supporting charity, but its even greater when they put on such a wonderful event.  Dress for Success is an organization that helps women get back into the workforce by providing clothing and interview skills.  Saturday morning everyone boarded the Lady Delray, a beautiful yacht operated by Delray Yacht Cruises, for a gorgeous trip down the Intracoastal to Highland Beach.  Like the old saying a day on the water is always nicer than a day on land, and this was a very good day and great event.  This event was put on by the Y.E.S. committee, Young Executives for Success, they arranged a nice brunch, a raffle, a silent auction and boutique store of designer clothes.

Three cheers for the Y.E.S.!, Jami Adkins, Cheryl Rhody, Lindsay Bennett, Valerie Rossetti and Monika Phillips.  Just flawless event, the brunch was light and delicious, and the venue was spectacular.

Next great event

The next event for Dress for Success is a 5k run walk at John Prince Park in Lake Worth on March 23, 2013.  You can register on Active.com, hope to see you there.

Palm Beach Christmas Boat Parade

Saturday night was the Annual Christmas Boat Parade,  We viewed it from the Cruzan Rum Bar and Panama Hatties in Palm Beach Gardens.  Hundreds of people jammed in to view the parade and get into the Christmas spirit.  The parade arrived with fireworks and lasted just under and hour.  I am a huge fan of the boat parade, its so uniquely South Florida.

Then finally Santa arrived, Merry Christmas everyone.

Jupiter Bluffs—-Great area that just makes you smile

The Bluffs in Jupiter are made up of 5 individual communities sandwiched in between the ocean and the Intracoastal Waterway.  I will be covering four of them today, the Ridge, Lakes, River and Marina.  Ocean at the Bluffs will wait for another day.  Just north of the Juno Beach line running down Marcinski the Bluffs was built in the mid nineteen eighties and it appeals to may different types of people.  Still impeccably maintained, the Bluffs attracts an active crowd of people who love the beach, boaters, joggers, retirees, people who love to get out and enjoy our South Florida weather and lifestyle.  Its a place that just can’t help but bring a smile to your face.

The Ridge at the Bluffs sits mainly on the Atlantic Ridge, with some of the homes sitting at the peak of the ridge and a few of the homes even have ocean views.  The Ridge is a single family home community built by Divosta with their famous solid poured concrete walls, a total of 618 homes in the community.  The homes are all approximately 2000 square foot three bedroom and two bath properties, with about 1/8 of an acre lots.

The River at the Bluffs is a combination of 363 single family homes and 312 town homes.  On the north a large preserve area and to the west the Intracoastal Waterway, with about 30 of the homes having private boat docks.  The town homes are the popular quads that are scattered through the area.  The community has a clubhouse, pool, tennis courts, playground, and a large open space area along the water.

The Marina at the Bluffs is a low rise condominium community the stretches along the Intracoastal and includes a large interior marina.  There are 660 condominium units, most either over look the marina or the Intracoastal.  These are about 1400 sq ft two bedroom 2 bath units with large balconies.  The community includes three pools and clubhouse and lots of open space and preserve along the water.

Finally, Lakes at the Bluffs, a 392 unit town home community off quads. The community has pool, clubhouse and tennis courts.  Just a short walk to the beach or the pier.  The main thing these communities have in common is a very ocean and beachy feel.  The sea breeze blows all year round  being so close to the ocean.

Even on a rainy day this community still shines—-Willow Bend

Western Lake Worth is full of adult communities with many different features and amenities.  Willow Bend is located off Lake Worth Rd just to the east of the Turnpike, just South of Poinciana, just west of Covered Bridge and just north of Lucerne Lakes.  All of these are adult communities.  Willow Bend is two associations in one, condominiums and villas, currently priced very affordable between 45k and 75k, the units wind themselves around a series of lakes and ponds.  There is also a great walking path to really take in the open space.

There are also two clubhouses a smaller one on the largest lake with pool, and the main clubhouse also with a pool, library, management company and tennis courts on a smaller lake.  The condominiums are over 1300 square feet under air two bedroom units with screened in porches.  The villas are over 1100 square feet two bedroom units with screened in lanai.  Its an active community with plenty of clubs and attractions to meet all needs.

North Palm Beach Ghost Run

Great time at the North Palm Beach Ghost run, certainly will be keeping this one on my to do list for years to come.  The race kicked off at the Anchorage Park in the Village of North Palm Beach ran up through the neighborhoods behind the North Palm Beach Country Club back down through the Village finally turning back to the park for the finish.  Just a beautiful run through well established neighborhoods with large old trees, just a great reminder why so many people are attracted to the Village of North Palm BeachTo me the Village of North Palm Beach and Tequesta are very similar, older neighborhoods, well maintained, and have a real home town community feel.

People really seem love the slightly larger lots, the pride the home owners take in maintaining the properties, the decades of established landscaping.  A real pleasure to run through or even drive around.  Once the race was over there was a kids 1k and awards ceremony, along with plenty of water, fruit, and muffins for all the participants.

Expectations from your Recruiter

Today, I would like to share with you some information about using a job placement recruiter.  After speaking with Jami Adkins of Green Leaf Search Group, I hope to answer some of the questions and shed some light on what your expectations should be for results.  Jami has been in the industry for over 12 years, and has been incredibly open and helpful in this process. Green Leaf Search Group is a nationwide placement company specializing in accounting & finance, human resources, sales & marketing, operations, and information technology.  They work with Fortune 1000 companies down to small and mid-sized firms always looking to place top talent.

First, I will tackle some of the basic questions a potential candidate may have entering into the process.  Why use a recruiter in the first place?  Recruiters have access to jobs and companies that may not be publicly searching for candidates, recruiters typically will be able to put a value on your skills and ask for the proper amount of compensation.  Who should use a recruiter?  People who are currently employed are the most valuable candidates to potential employers, especially to your firms competition.  Companies feel like employed candidates can just be plugged in, no learning or training curve.  For those people who have left their position, it would be to your benefit to work temporary jobs, what you do not want are large gaps in your employment timeline.  Companies are looking for candidates they could not get on their own through job postings.  What should a candidate expect from a recruiter?  Help with your resume, interviewing skills and valuation of your current skill set, confidentiality, and a guide through the process.  Who should use a a recruiter?  The greatest benefit is for candidates who are mid level through executive level, your talent and time can be best leveraged by using a recruiter.  If you use more than one make sure you tell them so they do not try placing you with the same firm.  I am not trying to discourage entry level applicants, many recruiters can act as job search coaches for you, helping you navigate through the process, assisting with resume, helping with interview skills.  These services are purchased directly from the recruiter.  For additional information please contact Jami Adkins at jami@greenleafsearchgroup.com.

Beyond Blind 5k in Abacoa

Early Saturday morning was the start of the Beyond Blind 5k.  Sorry, I did not get any photos of the race because I ran in it.  Or more accurately struggled mightily through the first two miles, and then had the best final mile I have ever had, giving me plenty of hope for the next run.  The race itself was run by Split Second Timing,  they put on a great experience, really professional.  I particularly like the every mile electronic boards letting you know how well you are pacing yourself.  The race began and ended right on University between Roger Dean Stadium and the Abacoa Town Center Amphitheater.       My only suggestion is to run through some of the wonderful Abacoa neighborhoods instead of up Central Boulevard.  Just to add a little interest to the run, its nice to have some turns and view some beautiful houses and communities.  Unfortunately after the run I was not able to stay around for the festival put on by the sponsors to the Beyond Blind 5k, they were having a concert with many acts featuring blind performers, food and drinks all free admission.   Normally run all these races with a few friends and we affectionately refer to each other as Team Dork.  Its great to encourage your friends and get encouragement back.  So it felt a little weird not to have my friends there to cheer on, but experience was still outstanding, and the charity seems like a good one.
